WE tv’s ‘Super Sized Salon’ spotlights a beauty salon for plus size women

WE tv spotlights entrepreneurs in the plus-size community with new reality series Super large living room.

The show follows the staff of Babydoll Beauty Couture, a beauty salon for plus size women.

“At Babydoll, there’s always a happy moment, a sad moment, an uplifting moment, or some bullshit,” one of the show’s stars says in the trailer.

The show, started by Jamie Lopez, showcases women in the plus-size community. The staff includes receptionist Astra, aka “Funky Chunky”, holistic hair care specialist “A-Love”, fashion stylist “007”, celebrity hairstylist and makeup artist, Taj, and makeup/lash artist and esthetician, BB.

The women all work together, but sometimes tensions escalate, especially when some of them wonder if Lopez has what it takes to run the business as she struggles to move around the salon and uses a walker.

She asks her employees in one scene, “You don’t take me seriously as a boss because of my mobility issues?”

The women also disagree on how to run the salon. “The energy here is screwed Jamie, and I need you to fix it!” said one of the women.

The show is produced for WE tv by Boat Rocker’s Matador Content and produced by Jay Peterson, Todd Lubin, Pam LaLima and Sam Brown. WE tv executive producers are Lauren P. Gellert and Kari McFarland.

Super large living room premieres Friday, July 29 at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT on WE tv. The series will also air on ALLBLK every Tuesday following its WE tv airing.
