Plans to expand the swimming pool, sauna and steam room at South Derbyshire Holiday Lodge grounds

Plans for a swimming pool, sauna and steam room at a holiday park in South Derbyshire have been submitted.

The application, from Dean Willshee, would see a new recreation block containing the additional facilities built on the Knights Lodges development in Knights Lane, north of Bretby.

South Derbyshire District Council will decide on plans in the coming months.

This comes two months after the company requested the construction of eight more vacation lodges, including hot tubs, at the site – to bring the development to 16 lodges.

This request is still pending.

If approved, the new 400-square-meter timber-clad recreation block would be near the site entrance off Knights Lane.

It would include a swimming pool, changing rooms, sauna, hammam and games room.

The games room appears to include a pool or snooker table and two ping-pong tables.

Large picture windows would give visitors a view of the countryside as they swim.

A floor plan of the building appears to show the pool would be around 25 meters long but would be narrower than a typical leisure pool – better suited for lap swimming.

Ten more parking spaces are proposed under the plans and three jobs would be created.

This is in addition to the eight additional parking spaces planned as part of the expansion of eight pavilions submitted in February – which is expected to create four more jobs.

The first eight Knights Lodges cabins opened in May of last year.

A report submitted with the recreation facility request states: “A building of this size is considered necessary to properly fulfill its intended function as a mixed-use recreation facility ancillary to rural tourism activity. established on the site.

Plans for eight more lodges have now been submitted, to mimic the same layout with a new row – there appears to be room for several more of these identical branches

“A number of employment opportunities would be created due to the extent of the facilities offered, ensuring that the local community benefits from the proposed development. “

The company says the facilities are only available to customers and “would serve to encourage a healthy and active lifestyle.”

He indicates that the site is “ideally suited” to the proposals and that the development can be built without “unacceptable impacts”.
