Coventry make-up artist for stars opens Leamington beauty salon and bar

A famous make-up artist from Coventry has launched a beauty salon with a twist. Lisa Little has worked with some of reality TV’s biggest names such as Gemma Collins, Georgia Steele, Dawn Ward, Lauren Goodyear and Jessica Wright while based in London.

Now she hopes to please crowds closer to home with a new business in Leamington that she has set up alongside partner Lee Nelson. Nanny June’s, replacing the Nashwhite hairdressers in Regent Street, is a “beauty concept store” where everything – from haircuts and hair extensions to eyebrows and beauty treatments.

It’s all in a relaxed environment where customers have space to spread out in a ‘prep room’ and time to relax and chat in a licensed bar. The concept grew out of Lisa’s experiences as a makeup artist, both in a salon and on her own, and is a fitting heirloom for her nanny June, who passed away on Christmas Day in 2020.

“It brings to life who my grandmother was,” Lisa, 35, told WarwickshireLive. “She made you feel special and that’s what we’re aiming for. We’ve all lost people during the pandemic. We couldn’t go out and we couldn’t feel human.

“We want people to feel the best they can. My grandma taught me about skincare. She always wore makeup. She lived life to the fullest.

“She was fearless, but she also had the devil in her and was mischievous. I am all of those things too. I want to breathe life into people and make them feel like a million bucks, like my nanny used to do. .”

The show opened on March 20 with a select gathering of around 90 people. The launch included a DJ, saxophonist, influencers, bites, goodie bags and, of course, a ribbon cutting.

Lisa and Lee, who have three daughters between them – Alisia, 17, Arley, 14 and Jorgie, 13 – spent around £100,000 renovating the building and worked tirelessly for several months to open the business in weather . No stone has been left behind with new electrical and plumbing installations as well as waterproofing, plastering, planking, flooring and painting.

In a Facebook post, Lisa said: “So here she is NANNY JUNE’S. The blood, sweat and tears that went into this two-story beauty store concept has been an amazing journey! I couldn’t be prouder of what we have achieved!

“Who says you can’t create something so beautiful just using your dreams and a Pinterest board hey!” And while the vision is primarily Lisa’s, the development has largely been a collective effort.

Lee, 45, juggled his job as a project manager to manage this project to the best of his abilities. “It will be something totally different from anything out there and totally customer-focused,” Lee said.

“Some salons want you out as quickly as possible or they don’t want you to come in early,” Lisa added. “We are quite the opposite. We want people to take their time and enjoy looking good in a relaxed environment.
