Beauty salon staff threatened by thug armed with “gun” in robbery offer

STAFF at a Lanarkshire beauty salon were threatened by a man carrying a “gun” during an attempted robbery this morning.

The thug entered North Vennel’s living room in Lanark at around 9.40am before asking for money, however, no money was given.

Police said he then went to a nearby supermarket where he allegedly stole a poppy appeal box before walking through Brewery Close to the High Street.

A manhunt has been launched to find the individual.

The suspect is described as being Caucasian, in his thirties, 5ft 8in tall and of slim build.

He was wearing a black beanie, a black cloth mask, a dark waterproof jacket, and dark jogging pants with a white logo on the left thigh.

Detective Chris Smith, Wishaw CID, said: ‘I would call on anyone in North Vennel or the High Street this morning between 9:30 and 9:50 am who may have seen this man in the area to get in touch .

“I would also ask motorists to check their dash camera images in case they captured the suspect.

“Anyone with information can contact Wishaw Police Station officers via 101. Please quote reference number 1177 from November 13, 2021, when calling.

“Alternatively, details can be forwarded anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
